TMC Theory — Theory of Confirmed Movement
Methodology by Marcelo Vieira: organize market evidence before trading. TMC coloring on the live chart follows this logic.
Movement + Evidence + Confirmation − Invalidation
TMC does not try to predict the future. It turns visual reading into a process: the market moves, leaves evidence, confirms or invalidates the hypothesis — only then does execution enter the scene.
Educational content. Not a profit promise and does not replace risk management, costs (spread/slippage) and testing on real data.
Core idea
The main question is not “will it go up or down?”, but “is there enough evidence to trade?”
- Movement without confirmation is only suspicion.
- Confirmation without controlled risk is recklessness.
- Statistics without a journal is opinion.
The theory comes from observing candles, legs, rejections and exhaustion — avoiding treating arrows, colors or alerts as absolute truth.

- 1 · ContextWhere is price? Which leg dominates?
- 2 · EventRejection, sweep, exhaustion or displacement?
- 3 · ConfirmationDid the market accept the hypothesis?
- 4 · RiskDo stop, target and size make sense?
- 5 · ExecutionOnly when everything above is coherent.
A “nice” candle out of context is not enough. 80% exhaustion does not mean 80% reversal chance — it warns of leg stretch.
TMC Score (summary)
Combines body dominance, displacement relevance (via ATR) and close quality. Values capped between 0 and 100 to compare events.
ATR normalizes volatility: 100 points in a calm asset ≠ 100 points in a volatile one.
Candle anatomy
- Large body → displacement intent.
- Long wick → rejection or price dispute.
- Close near high → buyer dominance in that candle.
- Close near low → seller dominance.
Legs and persistent color
An up leg can have red candles in the middle; a down leg can have green ones. TMC paints the dominant movement, not the mood of a single candle.
Color only changes when structure confirms loss of dominant movement — not on the first isolated rejection.
TMC-R and TMC-C setups
- TMC-R (reversal): confirmed top/bottom transition — structural leg change.
- TMC-C (continuation): correction within the leg that fails and resumes dominant direction.
Operational playbook
| Step | Question | Action |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | What is the dominant leg? | Up, down or neutral |
| 2 | Was there a TMC event? | Classify — still no trade |
| 3 | Was there confirmation? | Allow or block entry |
| 4 | Where is the stop? | Behind the defense |
| 5 | Where is the target? | Coherent with risk |
| 6 | Did you log it? | Always — otherwise it becomes opinion |
When NOT to trade
- Conflict between leg and event.
- Weak score or exhaustion without confirmation.
- High spread, major news or disproportionate stop.
Confirmation and invalidation
TMC coloring on TraderGain chart
On the live chart, enable TMC Coloring in the legend below the candlestick:
- Color persistes in transition until opposite confirmation (as in the official EA).
- The TMC panel shows regime, setup (TMC-R / TMC-C) and reading narrative.
- Official vote signal uses closed candle — aligned with indicator/bot.
